Why Choose Natural Therapies??

So by now most people have encountered natural therapies at some point in their lives. They have tried it out for one reason or another whether it be just to be "trendy" or as a genuine interest in the ways of natural healing.

If the current level of interest and usage of natural therapies is anything to go by then it is fair to say people are liking what they are receiving from this industry. Now having said that there are still people out there who are skeptical and there are those who want to know a bit more about the industry before they part with their hard earned cash. Fair enough.

The most common thing I am asked as a practitioner is why will this work when conventional medicine has not. There is a fundamental difference between what a Naturopath works from in as much as their approach compared to a doctor. I will attempt to explain that here from the point of view of myself as both a practitioner of naturopathy and a patient of both types of health care.

PHILOSOPHY

Basically in laymens terms a doctor sees him/herself as the final authority on the matter at hand and a Naturopath sees him/herself as and assisting guide to a person's healing and healthcare. A doctor is chiefly a scientist and a Naturopath embraces all aspects of health care, mind, body and spirit/energy. The later to a doctor is poppycock as it can not be seen physically. It is here that naturopathy and medicine divide. It is also here where Naturopathy overtakes conventional medicine in it's treatments I believe. Not to say that medicine is not needed, it very definitely is but it serves more use in mending broken bodies from accidents etc and performing corrective procedures than as a general therapy. Personally I see conventional medicine as more of a "body mechanics" type of practice as it often misses both the causes and correct and holistic treatment of illness.

NATURAL - V - CONVENTIONAL

One must be careful here to make it clear that many 'Naturopaths' are becoming more and more like their 'Conventional' counterparts in that they are 'Scientifically' verifying all their treatments these days and identifying key 'components' that make a herb etc valid and therefore usable for a treatment as well as measuring variables to the enth degree with scientific test of all kinds and computer programs, I use one myself. This is not true Naturopathy. Extracting and isolating various components is what conventional medicine already does. One must remember that the key word here is holistic, whole, the reason herbs are useful and so effective is because they deliver the 'key components' in a perfectly synergistic way designed by nature.

So we move onto the treatment process. A doctor's surgery is often crowded and when you get in to see the doctor you are asked a few questions, he taps away at his keyboard, produces a script, checks your vitals and you are off.

You visit your Naturopath and you are there for an hour. Your entire history is taken, mind, body, energy. Usually a whole program is made and treatment is begun.

I believe it is this fundamental difference that attracts people to natural healing. they are listened to and they are acknowledged. The treatment will entail treating all aspects of the illness, mind, body, energy...not just the physical manifestation. The treatments aims to strengthen the individual in all areas...not like most medicines which kill the problem and everything else in the process thus creating further problems.

Follow up treatments usually ensure the client is progressing in a positive direction whereas conventional leave follow ups until the next time you are sick!

Which would you choose?

SUCCESS RATES

Most Naturopaths will tell you that they invariably end up with the cases that are in the too hard and can't figure out basket from the medical professions and there is one reason for that.

They do not acknowledge the energetic aspect of the whole person, they see all illness as an external cause whereas Naturopaths see illness as a break down of the whole person's system predispose them to illness.

For example;
I have a patient who has presented with ongoing chronic sinusitis, lethargy and insomnia. Add to this she is suffering from anxiety. She had been to see her doctor 7 times for this. 7 times he gave her antibiotics and on the 7th time he recommended she seek out a specialist for sinus surgery and referred her on. She was not keen on the idea and so came to see me.

On my first consult with this lady I had her fill out my normal differential diagnosis questionaire.

From this I was able to see that she had spent the last 3 years under a great deal of stress in a very stressful job, but she had just recently left this job and was now working in a far easier job. She had poor eating habits, and drank too much. I proceeded to muscle test her for her food reactives, this means foods that are toxic to her body-everyone's is slightly different, and listed them down. She was not to eat these at all. I then did an energetic profile of her normal constitution and compared it to her present condition and identified the differences and problems. this made it easier for me to choose what herbs, foods and supplements best suited her energetically. I put together a food plan and herbal remedies for her to take and informed her of her dosages etc. Add to this I used a procedures called THOUGHT FIELD THERAPY to treat her stress and her current anxiety. After the hour treatment she walked out feeling better than she had entered. Our first follow up 3 weeks later saw her with marked improvement in energy levels and no further flare ups of sinusitis. She was still using the THOUGHT FIELD THERAPY techniques for stress and anxiety with great success and was sticking to her diet and formula. I altered her diet a little for longer term use and she remained on her formula. Our second follow up 4 weeks later saw her with renewed vitality and she reported feeling great. Still no flare ups of her sinusitis. The story goes on to her 5th follow up and her last, some 6 months from her first appointment where she still had no repeat of her sinusitis and felt great.

Why?

Energetically speaking stress and anxiety left un dealt with will often manifest physically as a sinus complaint, treat the stress - pull the illness out by it's roots! Energetically I gave her foods and herbs to treat her sinuses and failing immune system that were in the best interestes of balancing her overall energy, not just the symptom of sinus and lowered immunity. Supplements wise I gave her what her body needed to regain optimum levels of health.

I treated her as a whole person, mind, body, energy. Now this is nothing new to seasoned Naturopaths out there but to normal folk it is very different, why, because modern science and medicine refuse to believe in the mind/body, or energetic systems of the being. The doctors could not help her because they could not treat her imbalance as they did not know how!

TIME FOR CHANGE

Simply learning the about the physical body is only half the solution, the whole person must be known about to effect proper and completed healing. Modern medicine's refusal to accept or acknowlege the energy systems and methods of healthcare is what is leading more and more people to natural healing and healthcare. they are listened to, acknowledged and treated as a whole being not a number or a symptom. My knolwledge of herbal medicines physical and energetic uses and principals etc lead me to a different way to treat this lady and it was very effective. My knowledge of emotional and energetic causes of disease and how to treat them, caused me to diagnose her situation differently and create and effective treatment for her.

Why then is it so hard for medical science people to come to terms with this all too frequent occurrence of supposedly untreatable patients getting better naturally? Refusal to see the bigger picture, they will not acknowledge what they can not see! I find this laughable!

You cannot see air but it is there! The human energy field and system is there. What we see in the physical is simply the slowest vibrating parts, the faster parts are not visible. Just like solids, liquids and gases. You can see ice, water but not water vapour as it is vibrating too fast for your eyes yet it is there. Same with the human being.

Quite ironically I see science is catching up though with certain systems now being able to measure and treat the energy systems, one such system is THE NUTRI-ENERGETICS SYSTEM This is measuring and pin pointing areas in the human energy systems that are out of balance. This is having great success in preventative treatments and in treating existing conditions, well worth a read to understand it fully. Still, the establishment is having a hard time accepting this even though it is proven!

I think the general population is seeing through the establishment personally and is voting for what they find works with their patronage and now you can see a small glimpse of why. Natural healing therapists work with the energy, mental and the physical aspects, the whole person to effect a healing change. We treat the whole person, not the disease symptoms, we use what nature has provided us in the very best of herbal medicines, we use dietary knowledge to educate and empower you to make better choices, counsell and empower you to create a mind that is healthy and thinking in healthy ways and to be in control of your mind and not vice versa, and so on.

Everything manifest from mind, just ask yourself this. Does an architect first build the house then draw it or does he concieve of it in his mind, draw it and the have it built? The same is true for illness, there is unhealthy energy blockage, manifestation of physical symptoms then illness. To treat it you must start at the beginning and work back roots and all!

Until next time friends.
